Masculine Birthday Cards

Happy Wednesday! 

On my way to work, this is what I had the pleasure of seeing:

It is not unusual to see hot air balloons in the area where I live.  I don't know if I could go up in one.  I have a little fear with heights!  And now on to the cards...

 

I have some birthdays coming up for a couple men in the family.  It is so hard for me to make masculine cards.  I guess with everything in life, I just need to practice.  Using the balloon inspiration from earlier that morning, I pulled out an older Kaiser Craft paper pad.  Up, Up & Away is an older paper pad.  I am not sure if you can still get it.  This card can be duplicated with any masculine paper you may have on hand. 

 

Big fail with my 100 Card Challenge. Life got in the way!  I hope to be able to spend more time in the future crafting and not making challenges I can't keep.

Thinking of You (Card #4)

The images in the For the Birds stamp set are so cute.  I color the Think of You bird with some of my copics using two different brown shades for the nest.  This was then punched with a 1 3/4" circle punch.  The base card needed something so I stamped the background in VersaMark and embossed with white embossing powder.  I missed the top right corner so I decided to punch the side with a border stamp and add a strip of pattern paper on the side.  I die cut a scalloped circle for the stamped image and popped the image up on dimensional adhesive.

Birthday Balloons (Card #2)

Happy Saturday!

 

I hope everyone is having a great day! 

As soon as I saw the balloon dies from Simon Says Stamp, I knew I wanted to die cut some colorful vellum balloons.  I die cut the smallest balloon out of green, blue, and red vellum.  I did not want the adhesive to show so I ran the balloons through my 1.5" Xyron Sticker Machine.  The card base is 2.75" by 2.75".  This will fit perfectly in a 3 x 3 envelope.

The Challenge - Card #1 (Lawnscaping Challenge # 77)

I love making cards.  It is a stress reliever for me.  The problem is I never make time for it so I decided it was time to challenge myself.  The challenge is very simple.  I challenge myself to make 100 cards in 100 days.  Since I am starting on March 12, my challenge will run until June 20.  wish me luck!

 Card #1 - Hello

 

This first card is an entry into the Lawnscaping Challenge #77 - "BLING IT".  I took a light pink card from the Hero Arts Blush card set and sprinkled Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Tinsel.  Then I took the Scripty Hello die and die cut two hellos out of the small pink polka dot paper from Lawn Fawn's Let's Polka.  The third hello was die cut out of charcoal American Crafts POW! Glitter Paper.  I love the sparkle this paper has with no glitter mess.  The hellos were attached to the front of the card.  I used my Xyron 1.5" Create a Sticker.

Lawnscaping Challenge #38

There is a photo challenge this week at Lawnscaping. There are so many ways to go with this photo and it took we a while to figure out what I was going to do. In the end, I decided to take my inspiration from colors of the balloons and banners.



The flowers and leaves from Flutter By were stamped onto Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored everything in with some copics.

The banner was cut out with a Lifestyle Craft die. Using Clair's ABCs and Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped out the sentiment. I colored the whole banner with one of the copic markers.

The sentiment was mounted to the flower panel with some dimensional tape and that was set onto a card base from Hero Arts.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Let's Get Fruity

I am back!

Simon Says Stamp challenge this week is Let's Get Fruity! and here is my take:

The background is the lemon image from Lawn Fawn's Make Lemonade stamp set stamped all over with VersaMark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder onto a card from Hero Arts.

Then I stamped the lemon three times and colored in with a Memento Daffodil marker. After they were cut out, I went around the edges with the Memento Tuxedo Black marker. To give a little dimension I used some glossy accents.

The words were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and the alphabet stamp set is Clair's ABCs by Lawn Fawn.

The inside of the card was stamped with the "make lemonade" sentiment and pitcher of lemonade. I colored in the picture using a blender pen and some Memento Daffodil and Sky Blue markers.
